About Primrose Lodge

Primrose Lodge provides comfortable accommodation for up to four persons in a delightful spot in the north of the Isle of Man. An attractively converted farm building, finished to the highest standard with all modern facilities, Primrose Lodge provides an ideal base to explore the Isle of Man.

Situated at the top of Slieau Lewaigue ( pronounced something like Slew Laige ) at an altitude of 550ft (170m), Primrose Lodge offers superb views over Maughold Parish, Ramsey and the North of the Island. Primrose Lodge is just off the A2 Main Road, with the bus service between Ramsey in the North and the capital, Douglas, stopping conveniently outside.

The Parish of Maughold is rich in history and natural beauty, from it's rocky coastline to its sheltered glens it is a wonderful place to walk or simply to relax. There are ancient monuments ( Cairns and Tumuli such as Cashtal-yn-Ard ), the remains of early Christian Worship ( Celtic Crosses at Maughold Church & Keeills ) and the remains of early industrial mining activity ( for example at Ballaglass Glen )

Maughold Parish also contains two Manx National Glens ( Ballaglass and The Dhoon ), areas of outstanding natural beauty maintained for the use of the public. Ballaglass Glen is a spectacular walk along a winding river with beautiful water falls and woodland. Dhoon Glen is a demanding walk down a 200m (600ft) footpath to the sea, following the tumbling path of a small stream, past the remains of a massive water wheel and numerous waterfalls.
